Today we talk about the one thing that makes us women. It is in our body, that new bodies are formed, carried and nourished and complete the process by birthing. For women, this is just another normal thing we do that makes us stand apart. Women yield power that no other can, we just dont know it, Disect everything you do and see what the scales show. We do it proudly. It is in our DNA.

She becomes a mother, and the world calls it complete. Nobody mentions that somewhere underneath, she's also still becoming herself.

I remember holding my child and feeling, at the exact same time, entirely transformed and slightly lost, like two people occupying one body. Nobody warned me that both feelings could be true at once.

There's actually a word for this, coined by anthropologist Dana Raphael: matrescence, the developmental transition into motherhood, similar in scope to adolescence itself. Researchers describe it as a genuine identity shift, not a disorder, not a weakness, a real psychological transition involving the brain, the body, relationships, and sense of self, all at once. One recent study even proposes a beautiful phrase for what follows: "rebirthing the self," the ongoing work of reconstructing who you are, on your own terms, after the role has reshaped you.

Here's what deserves to be said plainly: being someone's daughter, wife, and mother was never meant to replace who she already was. Every role she carries sits on top of a whole, complete person who was there long before any of them, and who is still there now, underneath all of it.
