She's Not Doing It All by Magic - Fact 14

THE WOMAN PROJECT — Woman Fact 14
As we progress through life, a girl-come-teenager-come-adult-come-wife-come-businesswoman-come-grandma and so on. Transcending higher and higher, we compartmentalise, as our tasks gets heavier and heavier. We too as women, make space, unconsciously, it is no magic trick, we do more remember more and only God knows why He made us such incredible beings. Whilst men label it. We did not secretly learn magic tricks in the Magic Forest, to cope, remember, be there and everywhere for everyone. We just do!
Researchers gave it a name: "gendered cognitive stickiness." Translation: even with more money and less time, she's still the one remembering everything.

Sociologist Arlie Hochschild called it the "second shift" decades ago, the unpaid work that starts the moment the paid workday ends. New research from the University of Bath found the pattern hasn't budged: even successful career women with real income and real help still carry the bulk of the household's "mental load," the invisible planning, remembering, and anticipating that keeps a family running. The researchers call it gendered cognitive stickiness, because more money and less available time simply don't loosen its grip.
That's the actual answer to "how do you do it all?" She's not doing it all by magic. She's running a full-time coordination system in her head, appointments, birthdays, groceries, everyone's emotional weather, most of it invisible, most of it unpaid, most of it never once asked about the same way of the men in her life.
Here's what deserves recognition instead of just admiration from a distance: that capacity for holding an entire family's logistics in her head is a genuine, remarkable skill. It was never supposed to be hers alone to carry.
SAY IT
Practice this phrase out loud today: "I'm not doing it all. I'm doing my share, and I'm allowed to ask for the rest."
THINK IT
What's one thing you're mentally tracking right now that no one else even knows needs tracking? What would it feel like to hand it to someone else, fully?
CHALLENGE IT
Say one piece of your mental load out loud today, to someone who could actually help carry it. Not a complaint, just a handoff.
